all of our florida members please check in when you can to let us know that you are OK

Doing fine here. Just south of Clearwater. 4 Hatts in our marina.
Tide water was completely sucked out earlier. Now just strong gusts and minimal rain. This evening should be the peak. Prayers for all south of us !

Same here. I can see Esperanza a little on the marina cam. Riviera Dunes in Palmetto just looks like a rainy breezy day.

Down south it is real bad. Hope everyone pulls through OK.

For those interested... here's a link to one of the Marina Cams at Riviera Dunes in Palmetto, FL

I
live in St. Pete Beach and evacuated to Fort Liquordale yesterday. Took 6.5 hours to go 193 miles... tornadoes all around crossing Alligator Alley....

Bit of blustery day in Fort Liquordale....

My prayers are with those int he Fort Meyers area...

I'm In the eastern part of Tampa, rains and winds are really picking up as Ian moves north. Still have power and are safe,

I have friend at Ft Myers beach. His Stamas has sunk at the dock. His car is underwater and he can't see it. His roof is severely damaged but all windows intact. He parks under his place and the water is three steps from his living area. His last comment was "its cocktail hour".

Blowing about 30 here in Vero Beach out of the south had deluge rains for about 4 hours this morning dry since about 10am Dock went underwater at hi tide but it’s still there. Glad I put the new sea wall in this spring raised it a foot with all new deadmen and 1-1/4 stainless tie back rods. Still haven’t got the yard filled and leveled. Took a year from the day I signed the contract on the sea wall to get it done. It’s near impossible to get anyone to do anything.

Good looking boat, Ralph, even though it isn't a Hatteras. But how many thru hulls do you have along the waterline. It looks like about 30 :)

There was something about Bertrams and thru hulls in the 70s. Every A/C, bilge pump, sink drain, sump pump, RO brine discharge, laundry discharge and tank vent had its own thru hull.
All were chrome plated bronze and were probably pretty 44 years ago.

That's Wills Hatt behind us.

Everyone stay safe !

While having the 5 Hatteras sea chests with single outlets seems nice , the sea chests discharge holes are pretty small. For instance in a real heavy rain shower the deck drains cause water to back flow in the aft shower sumps

Also, they re two small for 3700 gph bilge pumps. Water backs up in the sea chests and try to Back flow into whatever possible.

There is no way the port ER sea chest can support the air con pump and a rule 3700 running together

The 80's Hatts don't have those issues. Must be they up-sized the outlets.

Maybe. Or maybe they are fine with smaller pumps (up to 2000).

Mine are all 3700's.

The seachests are not glassed into the hull. They are made of 4" PVC.

The early boats had sea chests molded into the hull sides with outlets that are 1 to 1/4” Too small.

Not good. Very sad.

Weren’t the OWW locks open, no closures for maintenance? It would have been so easy to run thru to the east coast. Early on, like on Friday, I briefly considered running east to the Bahamas before it became clear the storm was heading to the west coast.
