It is true that most loading racks stock 84 octane gasoline to be mixed with 10% ethanol. The resulting mixture is then 87 octane E10. But, to get the higher octane blends, they also stock higher octane straight gas. So, as long as gas stations continue to sell Premium gasoline, you will be able to get a 92 or 93 octane straight gasoline at the rack. This means that marinas should still be able to order straight gasoline as long as they insist on it.

Several years ago I was attempting to properly dispose of 50 gallons of gas.
After being bounced around a bit I decided to call the local refiner. his answer was "Cut a 55 gallon drum in half, fill it with the gas and light it"
Oh and he said to call him so he could watch.. I ended up pouring a case of octane boost in it and burned it through the 350 carburated chevy engine in the Chris Craft it was in. It worked.

Sky I was wondering about the same thing. Was trying to surf the net about refining and could not find a site that described it in engoug detail.

Was not sure how much the Ethanol raised the octane level. So it sounds like 10% Ethanol raised it 3 points. So marina should be able to get 89 which is what they have been pumping.

Well anyhow I hope we dont have to re tank. Just going to ride the thing out for a while. Guess I was a little freaked when all the marina's in my area told me in May that there will be no more non Ethanol gas after june 1.
