Spent the weekend on Kismet getting her ready for the season. Beautiful weekend to be on the water!
With the help of a friend, I did my own own and filter changes, along with getting all the dewinterizing projects done. I've said many times here, that I LOVE these engines and this weekend was no exception. 2 second crank and both fired right up. Not a puff smoke! Gensets took about 3 rotatations and ran smooth as butter.

Got the water lines cleaned out, water filters changed and ice cubes chilling....

We have some new neighbors next to us, younger couple who just bought a 48' Californian. Their parents are near by in a 48' blowboat....i'll give them credit, they know how to party and it sounds like we'll become good friends over the summer. Joint cruising plans were already being made after 2 beers!

My detail guy and his son are finishing up a few projects (painting the deck and fixing a few bright work repairs) and she'll be in pristine condition by next weekend. Hull and topside just got some dings fixed and a nice Awlcare polish.

I love this time of year! Hope to see all of you on the water! I'm toying with trying to talk the Admiral into a Juy Sabbatical...."need" to spend more time aboard this year!

Well, I gotta say, I'd much rather be in the situation of not having to bother with the winterizing/dewinterizing. I could happily miss out on the seasonal crackling! I'll be doing that in about a month...

I'll be doing the same at the end of the month except this time I didn't have to winterize the boat since she is in NC. I've been feeling bad for not getting down there to use her but it's been a crazy winter. No different than if she was sitting in the yard waiting for spring commissioning. Nice thing is all I need to do is fire her up, drop the lines and go.

The AC had not run since October so I thought it was a good analogy. Unfortunately once it is on it is on until Oct!!!
Afraid it is going to be a hot summer.

I have continued the process of working the bugs out all winter or what there was of it! We hardly had a freeze in Maryland at all. It's amazing how many squawks I'm able to identify, diagnose and clear during the long off season. The last significant squawk was the inability to charge the main salon Cruise Air 24k BTU unit. Decided it needed to be replaced and that one of the copper refrigeration lines was too small (only 1/4" OD). Ran a new 3/8" OD tube, cleaned up the installation area with new painted marine plywood and installed the new compressor. Hookup is tomorrow. How many more significant squawks can come up on a 54' boat that has been extensively refit? We'll see ... as for now, they keep a comin.

Meanwhile, enjoying this weather tremendously. The Admiral is coming aboard Friday .. Should be happy times.
