How is FII to go in/out of ? I am considering running outside from Block and going into the FII to hang for a couple days on the way back from New England to the Ches. Bay. Any firsthand expirience would be appreciated. My boat is a 61' CPMY...................................................Pat

Well have not been out there in a year or so always going the other way. But FI has always been one of the better ones on the Island. The shore tumb area is always a nice place too hang.
Good Luck Dan

Fire Island Inlet is probably the best of the five inlets along the South shore of Long Island. It is well marked. It is a heavily used inlet since the commercial fishing fleet from Captree use it daily as well as many pleasure craft. All inlets need care to navigate thru but the two you should be extra careful are the Moriches and Shinnecock. Avoid both of these if you can specially Moriches.
