Hey guys, it was on D pier two slips from the gate. Side note from the dock attendent that was working that night. He said the captain called him on his cell phone as soon as it started and asked for help. (?????) The dockhand called the police and took off for the boat. He said the captain was trying to extingush it with a small handheld. The dock hand ran down the dock, grabbed the docks big fire hose, turned it on and ran towards the boat. The fire department showed up right then and told him NOT to use the Hose on the fire!!!!!!!!!! They would not let him spray the fire!!!!!!!!!!This was while the fire department was still unloading their hose from the trucks!!!

They will never let a civilian get involved for safety reasons. That was their way of saying the person is more valuable than the boat.

When the "bayliner hits the fan" it gets very hard to put out a fire and keep all the non firefighters safe.

Time is critical with fire, that first hose may have been able to kill it right there. At least one firefighter could have manned that hose while the rest prepped their gear.

But this this dade county where it emergency services are known to play turf wars

I was surprised to see the FD start with water then switch later to foam, our FD always uses foam on boat fires.
