From my experience I would highly recommend putting a 15hp and putting the doel-fins on it as well. We have a 10.6ft Achilles RIB with a 15hp and it performs great. You will have no problem planning with 2 or 3 adults. We added the doel-fins to it and it clearly made a difference in the way the boat planes off. Although the doel-fins do help you need more power.

Prior to this we had a center console RIB that we added doel-fins to and also noticed improved planing performance. Good luck

You may also want to consider " Smart Tabs " These are sst tabs with pneumatic cyl pushers and I believe West sells them. I put them on a 13 Zodiac with console and 25 Jphnson a couple years ago and they made a dramatic difference in getting on plane and keeping on plane.

I saw a dink today on a 53 foot convertible that had trim tabs. Not sure what brand, but it was the first time I had noticed tabs on a dink.

What the heck mike, put the fin on see if it works. It's alot cheaper than a new engine. If it doesn't work use it on the new engine.

And it's a lot cheaper than smart tabs too.

We found that in addition to a quicker 'hole shot', the Doelfin allowed us to keep the dinghy on a plane at a much lower speed.

I have a 11ft. A/B with a 25 johnson. I had same problem. I 1st added the fin, and it did help some but not enough. I then added smart tabs, I could not believe how easy it was to get on plane. Smart tabs are well worth the money.
