My stbd. fuel filter needs monthly changing and I suspect I have a baterial growth going on in that tank. I have used a biocide like Biobor JF in the past with good results, but I have had an enzyme treatment, StarTron Enzyme Diesel Treatment, recommended to me as a "green" alternative. Any input out there?

My neighbors two slips down use and recommend Startron. Too early to tell yet on my boat. Biocides do kill the bugs but over time cause a goo build up in the tanks that will eventually get sucked into your filters unless you are using a good fuel polishing system regularly. The Startron enzyme is supposed to break up the dead bug goo into submicron particles that pass through the filters and burn.

PM Dan ( 34Hatt ) about the AJX. He and many others swear by it.

I second that and my boat is older than most of yours.

I've used DieselKleen but due to the amount of use the boat gets, fresh fuel is always in the tanks.. Did have the tanks polished in 2001 as I didn't know what condition they were in but both came thru in super condition.

What is AJX and where do you get it ?

A couple of people here swear by MMO.

I swear by AJX now too
