Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
I was working on a Nortic Tug when the people on the boat next to me introduced me to their son who lives in England... A very nice chap.....

A few minutes later he said he saw two blue crabs on the center wooden piling and was impressed by them..... SO, I said I would catch them for him and got a fish net with a 2' handle..... So far so good.

Now the piling was 3' from the edge of the swim platform of my Nortic Tug... So I "just leaned over" and just as I started to make my swipe with the net, a SMALL wake from a passing boat hit mine.....

S P L A S H......... my wallet, cell phone got soaked...... By now the laughter on the dock was deafening...... Was told I only needed 3 more falls to become an "Ace".... Groan....

And I missed the stupid crabs on top of it all.....

But unlike the dunking I took last November (remember 9 days in the stupid hospital) or when I cut my leg while diving on my boat in August (only 4 days in the hospital that time)..... All I got was wet this time...

So it's about time to go to the local AT&T store that opens at 11 AM today and (again) get another cell phone....

Well, the third time was the charm! You have finally learned how to entertain your dockmates while managing to remain unhurt.

Congratulations!!

Capt K :)

I've found ya hang around boats long enough you'll go in. Fall in every few years as recently as two weeks ago. Bounced off the dock before I hit the water (very imortant for a good score) I feel it was a solid 8 would have been a better score but I didn't eascape unharmed (sore ribs and foot). Over the years I've seen a few 10's but not easy to get that high a score. Bill

Funny post thanks for the laughs. Been in twice myself caught myslef both times didn't get my hair wet but both arms hurt for days.

Worst splah I saw was at a boat show. Husband and wife were boarding. Husband allows the wife to go first. There was a gang plank between the dock and the boat. As she is boarding she kicks the gang plank about 6 inches forward. This is just enougn to clear the dock and as she steps on the board it gives way. There is nothing for her to grab, the gang plank goes vertical and she goes straight in doing the "pencil" dive. She must have went under by 2-3'.

Is was a busy boat show and it could of ended in disaster. But fortunately as she came up the Husband and the salesman on the boat both grabbed her and had the leverage and height to wisk her out of the water. Now shes back on the dock soaking wet standing in the same spot she was just before she boarded. The whole episode took about 3 seconds. It was only funny after she was back on the dock.

Yeah it only funny as long as no one gets hurt. Hitting some thing on the way can be serious as Charlie knows. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt this time and just skip going for the third time.
My wife did her third last year 3 in the last 5 years sure do hope she is done!!

Gotta love it. My yachtclub adds insult to injury, and fines anyone who falls in $2 for "unauthorized swimming". The $2 is then pinned above the bar for the season, with the offender's name next to it.

Reminds me of years ago when my dad was washing his brand new boat in LaBelle, FL. The finger pier was not as long as that new boat and he walked right off of the end with brush in hand. Forturately the 50A cord that he landed on didn't pull out of the connection on the boat and those big alligators across the way sunny themselves were disinterested. It sure is funny now when we have those family get-togethers though.

Heck, in that case I would just pin a $50 bill on the bar and say "to heck with it'. But I would want my name in gold lettering...

We did have 4 of our grandkids here Sunday... And as I was walking down the dock with my one yr old grand kid in my arms.... My (wise ass) daughter said " Dad, my son doesn't need a life vest, but you do."

Never did like her....... :}
