"I am Gumby dammitt!!!" LOL

Farnsworth Lantern hasn't been made for years. The Optec 900 is the modern farnsworth lantern, but I'm not sure if they make it anymore: https://www.stereooptical.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Optec-900-email-2017.pdf

Many men have trouble reading the funky pseudoisochromatic plates, and I think many folks test with improper lighting or faded books. I couldn't read any numbers at a physical, but I could read all 14 plates with no problem at my eye doctor!

The Optec 900 and Farnsworth lantern, however, are SUPER EASY compared to the books. If you can't pass them, you likely have a color issue. Buy your own and take it with you if you struggle.

Okay, I just have to ask...

Why did you bump a six year old thread on funky eyesight?

I'll bet those that have a license issued by a foreign government don't have nearly as much crap to go through. And they can still operate in our waters.

I'll take that bet.

In theory, every country is the same for international endorsements because of STCW. In practice, the pencil whipping still occurs.

You said “a” foreign country. That’s a very broad brush.

That was 6 years ago and I'm still learning the English language. Give me break :)

We’ve been talking recently how LED lightning and color range effects reading the Ishara plates. I,m coming up on my 8th renewal of my license and it’s always a PITA finding someone with the Farnsworth test. I’ve got a class 1 waiver from the FAA when I got my ATP but the USCG is still stuck on stupid
