Some of you may have seen the news story about an F-18 that did a nose dive into San Diego bay after the crew ejected..
The location is about 250 yards from our slip in about 20 feet of water, and is blocking access to the yacht basin.
Who knows when the Navy will get around to clearing up this mess.

Man, that's tough luck. Of all the places to splash it. I still recall the great tour of the harbor you gave me 15 years ago when I was there to pick up my daughter. I hope you can get back out soon.

I was a DOD contractor in the late 80s/early 90s working for the US Navy. Driving over the Coronado bridge every 50 feet was a suicide prevention phone. Most were labeled or tagged out of order.

The local humor was the jumper was on auto-hold and jumped anyway with the hand-set or the locals cut the hand sets to encourage jumpers to jump.

I did luv the area except the water was cold and the ground shook.

The Mission Bay boat races were fantastic.

We are just across the basin from Dave. Maybe wife heard the jet take and then just silence until the crash. The crane to lit it out of the water arrived today so knowing how the government works they probably will have it off the bottom in a couple of weeks. Both pilots were released from the hospital today. It’s amazing how much worse that could have been if tha thing came down a 100 yards farther, would have been in a dense residential area.

Turned out better than the Growler up north a couple of weeks ago.
