Does anyone have one of these antique voltage regulators that is properly wired and working? There are three wires that come off of this and I'm trying to figure out where each are supposed to go. hopefully I uploaded the picture.

I have the Manuel for that regulator if you need it PM me. John

Hello, I went through this last spring. The auto electric guy hated me but I learned a lot about externally regulated alternators. The are three wires, on mine one is hot with the key on and fed from the fuel solenoid, one is ground and the third goes to the alternator to excite the field. An automotive shop can check it for you and tell you which spade lug on the regulator is which. If you find a shop that's been around a long time with an old guy working in it you've got it made. They will even be able to get a replacement if you need one. I'll be at my boat Thursday so I will be able to trace the wires if you need.

I think I might have one, I'll check this weekend. If I have it it yours.

Years ago, I had the regulators (internal) on my engines changed to Balmar external regulators. They work very well indeed. If you want to go to a modern external regulator, I have found them to be reliable. There are other makes as well, Scott could probably advise you on them. Smart regulators were a huge improvement on my boat.

My three wires I have one is white with a red stripe one is white with a blue stripe and one is white with a gray stripe the one with the red stripe is fed from the fuel switch on the fuel filter the other two are the ones I'm having an issue with the blue one and the gray one

Blue usually is the field wire to the alternator. John

Meaning the sensor wire ? and does that go to positive or negative while the other one I'm assuming would be the ground which would connect to the Ground Terminal on the alternator so that means the sensor wire would go to the positive terminal on the alternator?

I replaced my two 32v regulators last year. $75 each. If you cannot find it locally ask me and I will look for the name of the place I bought it from in fort Lauderdale, FL for you.
