  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' CONVERTIBLE (1965 - 1969)
Every single time we have a trip some tropical BS flares up. Spring, Summer, doesn't matter. Was just looking a day or so ago and all the X's and storms clearing out and not coming anywhere near us next week. Now theres a dang disturbance coming right at us. We are heading south as it heads north in theory but we know how that can end up.
At least no snow or ice.

I know how you feel, but that quandary went away once I bought boats that could cruise really fast. A Fountain 48 can cruise at 50 mph burning only a gallon a mile. Imagine how many destinations suddenly become viable.

Doesn’t matter if the weather is where you are headed for. Not really complaining, just sayin. Don’t have to shovel heat!😁😁

Swell. 70% chance now.

So now instead of a leisurely run down to Captiva we changed plans and we’re going to stay in Bradenton beach until things blew over. Then they are talking about intensification and now we decided to bring the boat up the Manatee river to get away from the coast. If it moves as fast as it’s supposed to maybe we can head out Wednesday afternoon but probably won’t until Thursday morning. Hope the rollers aren’t to big. If they are we are stuck on the inside the whole way down.

If it all works out, hopefully you'll still have a decent trip. We're in Ft Myers, and having this roll in 11 months after we lost Pau Hana is not a good feeling.

I am wondering which side of the river to hang on. At this point, it seems like the South side might be a better bet if the storm leaves that to the east?

Looking at the updated forecasts and the likely rapid intensification, it it was me I d run to Ft Myers today just in case it passes closer to the coast. This way you can head inland on the OWW if needed. The eastern quadrant is always the worst and it will take very little shift to bring real nasty weather to Tampa Bay. I know dockage is a problem in Ft Myers right now but I wouldn’t stay in Bradenton.

Underway as I type this on the way to Captiva. Once there we will decide to stay or run to Labelle.

Good call. So far the track forecast hasn’t changed much, it was nudged just a little bit yesterday but it will take very little to bring the center closer to Tampa bay

Got one of the last 2 slips in Labelle. I am comfortable staying put at South seas but my wife is not so inland we go. Just another $1300 in fuel for the trip!😂 Generator is giving me fits and getting air into the Racor but if I drain fuel out of the main Racor easy to top of the generator and run some more. We are going to need it as Labelle has no power.

Hello hot engine room. At least it’s a dry heat!😂😂😂

Good move to head away from it. Yeah, Ft. Myers is a mess still. I think they finally have most of the boats out of Legacy.
