Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
There is a 1980 76 foot Hatteras that has come up on YACHTWORLD . It says the yacht has been ,re powered, repainted, and rewired, and new interior . Any wild guess how much was spent or would need to be spent to do this ? $1 million + ? The photos look great.

Repowered with what? What was done to the interior? Impossible to answer your question. Could be anywhere between $500k and $1M depending on engines used etc

SCANIA. 825 hp

That boat is stunning. $1.5M minimum.

Tiny engines for a 76 footer.

Who knows what else eas done and how?

It looks like a fair value .

Very nice. The asking price is probably not mush more than the paint repower and interior work

That said, i wonder how performance. These boats aren’t light and 850hp engines on a boat that size? These ponies must be sweating…

Like most of us, we don't go fast.
I can imagine the new engines run more efficient at lower speeds and faster operation has long been forgotten.
With a new clutch/gear ratio and different propellers, I'm sure she can still put her shoulders into currents and poor weather without any abuse or sweat.

12V71TAs @ 900HP was probably originally installed so not a great loss in HP or torque.

Those are freaking big V-8s now.

She looks like she can still get on plane.

Update, please read post #15.

That is stunning. Wrong coast, but stunning.

What you said. Can you imagine what it would cost to get it to the East coast? I didn't know there were numbers that big.

About 8 years ago a 70 footer I used to run was sold and shipped to the left coast, it was about 60k. 8 years ago

Probably is cheaper to bring it over than try to duplicate it on the East coast. Broker is asking $639 , Yachtworld $839. ?..

Was just looking up Scania 825 HP engines. That is the big 12.7 liter, 6 cylinder engine.
The pictures show V-8s.

The 13 Liter V-8s go up to 900 HP.
The 16 Liter V-8s go up to 1150 HP.

This Hatt may not be short of HP.

12V71s are 14 Liter engines.

Wow, just wow. That boat has been loved using a very open and very deep checkbook, absolutely stunning!

I'd like to see photos of the repower adventure.

This shows what can be done to these old boats. Even with the crazy amount of money that was spent here, the guy still has far less into this boat than if he had purchased new in this size range.

It also shows what Hatteras could do if they had an owner who actually wanted to build boats. Make some motoryachts like this in various sizes.

Why the ask price difference between broker vs YACHTWORLD ?
