  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' MOTOR YACHT (1993 - 1996)
Hello, last April we purchased a 53' Hatteras (1993) with a 1996 cockpit extension. Over the past ;months I've figured out much of the systems (fuel management was a blast to figure out with 5 tanks, a transfer filtering system and 12 different fuel filters!).

The question - the engine room has blowers, but I can't find the switch to turn them on. I realize it's a big old diesel boat and they're not needed like a gas guzzler, but I'd still like to figure out how to turn them on. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone have a owners manual for this beautiful beast?

Thanks,
Walter Hope

On our 53 the switches are on both helm consoles. Can't imagine where else they'd be unless someone modified the wiring/switch placement. Aren't there blower switches on the helms?

Only place I can think of where someone might put them if they relocated them is in the engine rooms themselves.

You can get the original owners manual from Hatteras if you supply them with the boat's hull number. It used to cost 75 bucks and contains a complete list of everything that was on that particular boat when it left the factory and instructions for operating everything as well as schematics for the elec system.

My switches are labeled Halon Overide or something of that sort.

??? That seems to be a mighty odd label for the blowers. Ours are labeled "blowers" or "engine room blowers," something like that. I'm not on the boat so I can't check the exact wording. But both helms have switches for their activation.

Just found a pic. Says blowers underneath. Switch says on, off, halon override.

On my 63, there are 120v blowers with plunger switches in the ER and a breaker in the AC panel. There are also DC blowers in the ER, switch and indicators on the helm, and breakers in the DC panel box.

There is also the circuit breaker in the cabin DC panel located on the port interior wall near the lower helm.
