  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
We have a 1972 53 Motor Yacht, with 8v71N DD's. We have a broken engine mount. We need an engine mount for the starboard engine front left. Any ideas where to get one? It seems these are no longer produced as the style was changed around 1979 or so. Any help is appreciated. Thank uou

We've got a 79 model 58 yachtfish. I've just looked at mine in passing, but I think if you took the old one out and sent it to a decent welding shop they could make another fairly easy. If it were me I'd get any new ones made from stainless. Just my 2 cents. Just use the old one for measurement purposes.

Try Sam's first. If they don't have it, then I would try a real commercial marine outlet, like Mesco or Paxton, in Virginia. You could also call yards that do repowers- they will know where to buy these. You should also look in Boats & Harbors.

I would be interested in opinions from Scott and Dave regarding replacing one engine mount. I suppose if the others are in good shape and you can get the engine and trans aligned satisfactorily, why not. Is there any kind of suggested replacement life on engine mounts? Should they be changed out in pairs, or all of them at once? And does a broken engine mount indicate some other kind of problem?

Have two complete sets for 12-71 not sure what 8-71 look like if you post a picture I can compare.

Do you have the mounts with the two L shaped feet bonded to a center piece of metal.

yes to d sharp.

All of the other engine mounts are ok.. this one had some sever rust damage from a leak with a previous owner.

thx

That's good. So you will only need one, and an engine alignment. Not too horrible. I am glad to hear it.

I have seen people place a heavy piece of rubber under the center section and put a couple of bolts through the two L shaped pieces. Has the rubber torn from the L shaped pieces. I'll look through my warehouse this weekend. I might have 1.

Is this the same style mount?

My brackets are actually wider than those. However my DD mechanic called and said he finally
found one. I hope it fits....

As always thank you for all the help and information.
