Engine Block Heaters

For those of us who remain within slips during winter, does anyone use their engine heating system to keep internal moisture out? I was advised that keeping the heaters on will not allow moisture to accumulate and compromise the internal workings of my DDs. In addition, what is the preventive maintenance schedule to start and run the engines during this period to exercise them?

Leave the block heater on.

Don't start them and idle them. Wait until you can run the boat up to operating temps in the spring.

Does anyone know of a block heater control system to maintain a preset block temp? I cam make my own but would rather buy a purpose built controller.

AFAIK they all have a thermostat, the water temp will be the block temp.

At least for Kim Hotstart models, some do and some don't have thermostats...
