My neighbor has a 92ft Pershing with 2400 HP MTUs. He burns 200 gph but he's running 50kts.
And getting his a$$ kicked bouncing on top of the water like a cork.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's more efficient in terms of pounds of boat moved per gallon/hour, after all I have 1000 hp 1271ti's - not the world's most efficient engines.
The nmpg per gallon is probably better than mine at 40 (!) knots. At 20 knots certainly not, she weighs more than twice as much..
It's the power too. When I was looking at 54C the 12V92 boats burned around 90 gph at 25kts and the 3412 boats burned 70 gph. 20% increase in efficiency is pretty common.

Is that Pershing a silver or gray color? If so I think I saw it when coming back On a ship
Yes and he was in Montauk when you where out there. If you saw it running it shoots a rooster tail about 20ft high and at least 50ft long.

Yup, that was it. Looked like some type of surface drives. I think we passed it when coming under the last bridge. I saw it off in the distance and was like WTF is that color. Then I saw it was hauling ass LOL. Finally, I realized how big it was!

One of those big Pershings was in my marina for a couple years, it looked like the owners just used it as a cocktail party barge.
I believe they have Arenson surface drives. A med boat for sure, at speed it must have very limited range, and going slow Arenson drives are crazy inefficient.
Not west coast optimized.....

The boat does have Arneson. They are very efficient and the boat has good range. It is a fair weather boat. Very flat bottom doesn't do well in anything but a flat sea. Tight quarter and slow speed handling is poor with the surface drives.

I guess a flat bottom would be a given to get that much speed from the boat size/HP equation.
Out here where ports are hundreds of miles apart (400 miles if you head south) a boat that does poorly in rough water doesn't work out.
I can see how it would be great where the ports are close together.
