Early 53 Motor Yacht anchor pullpit & winch an extra ??

Hi all ,

Looking at an interesting 53 Motor Yacht in Dubai for purchase ( probably the only one here) It has no anchor winch / no 'dolphin nose' pullpit and no handrail extension where front flag mounts . On close inspection it looks like it never had one? It just has anchor and chain laying on the deck- looking at hatteras 50 MY brochures they didnt have winch or dolphin front- was the first run of 53's the same?

Its looks like a very early model with no radar arch and early interior + old style flybridge.

shame that it has some non original upgrades such as all glass wheel house doors and all glass sliding saloon to rear deck door which would need putting back to original spec either with donor doors or skilled carpenter. Also both wing doors to side decks are missing but still have frames.

Thanks Pascal, hard to believe a 53 footer came with no windlass! Done some homework and looks like the 1969 and 1970 didnt have the nose extension . Seen a few advertised with no pulpit. Also even the flybridge was an optional extra . see early brochure page from '69 attached

Be glad it doesn’t have one they were a major source of coring rot. Most people don’t or shouldn’t anchor out anyway.

I have never seen a 53/58 with no pulpit execpt mine.

We have a few 69 through 71 Hatteras here in Northern California and none have a Bow pulpit but do you have a flybridge.

Elaborating on Rusty's response, some are without a pulpit but *do* have a windlass.

Funny, I never really gave that a thought. At least you've got a windlass tho.

my 1972 58yf didn't come with a pulpit. someone along the way added an aluminum pulpit. it didnt have the chute on it so i bought one from scott and added it
