This is a picture of the starboard drive gear from a Twindisc 507 tranny that just turned 33years old.
Apparently worn out for a while but just let go completely in November. I’ll be doing the other side while I’m at it. At first very scary but after I got it pulled back not so much. The work can be done by just pulling back tranny not lifting it out. Rubber block drive and the rubber blocks were totally gone.

Thanks for sharing this, great pictures too. Although this site is a great wealth of information sometimes the news found here can interfere with sound sleep. The rusted through oil pan post sometime ago was especially troubling as we have the same pans but older, and we have Twin Discs, but older. Have a great weekend.

Wow!!! Looking forward to seeing more pictures of the repairs!

Sorry to cause any sleepless nights, something I didn't know and felt like sharing. Pulling the starter off and checking for black dust (the rubber disintegrates) is a simple way to check. Or you could use a bore scope and take a look. Here's what the new one looks like along with a couple of the rubber blocks.

Transmission is back in! With the help of a local mobile mechanic I was able to get the transmission back in place and bolted up today. What a relief. Definitely took two guys. Used the porta power to slide it into place once the angles were just right. Used a piece of threaded steel rod to pull the shaft back in place. Just have to do some painting and start putting things back together.

It appears you didn't change the input side of the drive adaptor. Those lugs have taken a beating after running metal to metal for such a long time.

The spider gear is pressed on and in order to change it would have to remove transmission. 350 lbs. Not an easy job.
Yes they took a beating but only on one corner. Can't imagine how long it was like this before it broke completely. The height is still there and the fit was snug. Good enough for me. I am going to do the other side and try not to remove so many parts. I'll let you know what I find......
These rubber blocks are supposed to be checked after 2000 hours. I guess you can slid the transmission back far enough to inspect and or change. I had that many hours when I bought her and 2500 hours when she failed.
I'll see if you can actually slide it back without to much trouble. Too bad there wasn't an inspection plate or something.
$100 for rubber blocks or $500 for drive gear if you don't inspect. Nothing lasts forever but I was glad it was only the aluminium part. Rick
