DIY oil change with integral "oil change system" procedure ?

milacron, unless i missed a post somewhere, you haven't even purchased a boat yet. all of the boat oil change systems that i have seen over my 30 years of ownership and caretaker of boats are set up different. until you purchase a boat no one will be able to tell you the best way to change your oil, and how the system works or how to dispose of the oil. some boats have new oil storage tanks for fresh oil,and some have waste oil tanks for used oil. these boats will have a separate system to fill and remove oil from the tanks. what it boils down to is that all boats will have a different setup, so you wont know the BEST way to do an oil change till you are on the boat that you intend to change the oil in.

I made it crystal clear in the beginning I was only looking for general tips, many of which have been given and seem excellent. I'll know more specifics on the boat in question this weekend.
