I'm installing an old Pipewelders dinghy davit on my boat. Its a bit clunky but appears suitable for the job. I've already sourced a good Warn 12v 1000# capacity hoist motor for it. My problem is that I'm having problems obtaining a replacement bearing for the unit. This piece sits in the "bell" of the crane. The bell fits over the top of the standpipe. It helps the crane rotate on top of the standpipe. The old one that came out is about 1/8" thick. OD is 4", ID is 3-1/4" making the width of the ring material 3/8".
I'm fairly confident that I can fabricate one, but I want to choose the best material. I'm considering Delrin, but the thinnest that McMaster carries is 1/2" thick. As I mentioned, the one that came out (which appears to be plastic) is about 1/8 - 3/16" thick. I don't see the additional thickness being a problem, indeed, it may be a benefit. I'm just wondering if Delrin is a good choice for the material, or if there is something better I should be looking at. Here's a link to the material: https://www.mcmaster.com/9969K21/
Don't bother suggesting that I call Pipewelders. I've left 3 or 4 messages already as apparently no one answers the phone there. Neither do they return my calls. So, what say the engineers here?
