Hi All,

I had to have a both turbos on my starboard engine rebuilt. Got them back on except I cant find the gasket, or ring, that goes between the turbine side of the turbo to the mixing elbow that is held in place by the 4 clips/clamps..

Apparently there are two ways this has been done depending on the mixing elbows - 1 is what i would describe as the face of the elbow flange being butted against the face of the turbo held on by the 4 clips/clamps and 2 , which is what I have, where the mixing elbow is recessed into the turbo and held in place by the 4 clips/clamps. (I am told what I need is more of a ring than a gasket, but either way...) picture attached.

Wondering if anyone can share a part number or supplier for the gasket/ring.

Thanks all.elbow.webp

Is that a JT cast label? Maybe call them..

So many collector / turbo outlets were made and used, look for a mfg tag.
If the collector / turbo outlet was mfg'd by a current vendor (De-Angelo, MES), ring them up and ask for their gasket.
Sadly these days, that is not possible, some companies are gone.

Nnext idea;
On some combinations, I was using Cat turbo rings but on my bud's TA's, the turbo was pitted and would not seal 100%.
I then punched out from a high temp gasket sheet new gaskets.
Round to fit, 1/2" wide, maybe 1/16" thick Finally fixed that last lil leak.

Thanks for the reply Capt.

This was a helpful start for me.

Figured out the elbows were manufactured by an outfit called Key Marine which was in Hialeah Fl.

They closed shop around 10 years ago from what I gathered. gave that information to Johnson Tower in Jersey who connected me with a couple folks - 1 being Paul at Marine Manifolds in Long Island, NY. Spoke with him and sent a few photos and he gave me a part number for Cat gaskets he thinks will get the job done (which I ordered and just received). He said if those dont cut it, to give him a call back and we will see what we can do to get a couple made.

Thanks again - you advice was super helpful!

I have a name and number for you of a retired Detroit Diesel mechanic who says he has parts.
His name is Criag Stange and number is 619-392-1141. Good luck.
