I guess I didn’t know how controversial this would be.

I have an oil change system/pump. $500 compared to $2400 is a no brainer. I have always changed the oil on my land based vehicles. I was just curious how many gallons of oil each engine takes and preferred oil filter. It sounds like 5 gallons per engine and a wix filter for each. I have a box of Raycor filters for fuel but isn’t there a secondary fuel filter that should be changed?

I assumed I would need an empty 5 gallon pail to start draining the first engine. Does each engine take 5 gal of 40w? 5 gallons of 40w seems to be the consensus.

The marina has a dump tank they allow slip owners to dump into.

You will need an empty 5 gallon bucket or several gallon ones or some suitable container to put the oil in. Once you do the first engine you will have empty jugs or buckets to put the second engine's oil into. I prefer pouring single gallons in the top as I don't like sucking clean oil out of a 5 through the dirty oil change system hoses. One thing you will also need is plenty of shop towels and diapers. Also something to catch the oil that will come from your filter when you crack it open. I always put a diaper under the work area as I am clumsy. Also make sure you turn your perko switches off so if you accidentally bump something you don't turn your dry engine over. When you are ready to crank the engines hold the stop button and let it turn over a few times to build oil pressure before releasing the same button to crank. This is a step your marina's oil changer will probably forget to do or not know about.

You are correct in that you need to change your secondary fuel filters as well. They will be on the side of each engine. Not sure if you have the element or spin on type. I use large cooking oil drums for my used oil. They hold right at 5 gallons, have a screw on cap and a built in handle. I found these work best.

My 892s take 7 gallons. I started buying Homer buckets for the used oil because I like to pour one gallon at a time in the motors. That and the buckets are easier to carry up the stairs.

Speaking of oil change, this popped up in my photo memories. About 10 years, about to do the oil change on a pair of 3412s…. I would run the hose to the pump along with remote switch thru ER vents and do the pumping from the finger pier. Using a concrete mixing pan to catch any spill

Once I did the oil change on a mooring in Newport with the pails in the dinghy alongside :)
