Cummins 450Cs

A sign of the times; I was talking to one of my customers who is a local Cummins dealer here and he said the marine business is dead slow.

He mentioned that he has has a new pair of 450Cs in stock that he's looking to liquidate at cost. So I thought I'd mention it here. If anybody's looking for a pair for a repower shoot me a PM or e-mail and I'll give you his info.

Well, nothing is ever simple. It seems Cummins has changed dealer policy and these enigines cannot be sold outside of the dealer's local trade area. So unless you're in New York or aren't interested in a warrany it seems it's not as good a bargain as I thought.

It is, and he does, it just wasn't mentioned to me in the initial conversation.

scrod, I know of the mako guys and they have worked on my boat in the past and repowered the same model as mine so i would trust there input. 450 c's we're talking qsc's? or 6cta?....recon etc ok i'll byte if you could send info prices please thanks tom.

They are 6CTA8.3 mechanically governed 450 Metric HP "reman" engines. "Reman" meaning new engines for repower only in Tier 1 eligible boats.

As I stated earlier there are issues with installing these engines outside of the dealer's sales territory if you want a warranty.

We didn't discuss pricing, he just told me dealer cost. If you're interested contact Roy directly at 516-378-7331.

Just spoke to him, he says he will sell them with gears and couplers for around 25k per engine

my local cummins dealer sold me a pair for about 27,000 each about 6 months ago. with sales tax it came to 57,000 for the pair. this included the warranty validation sea trial and technical support from the dealer before and during the installation. before you buy out of dealer network be sure you get the cost of shipping and cost of warranty validation(if you can get it from your local cummins dealer) before making your decision

I think that's what I quoted a pair for recently too. That seems fair with checkout and warranty.
