  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
Didn’t try to gussy up the unit one bit for the photos, sorry not sorry. It works well. Blower has a slight scraping sound at extreme low rpm, not the bearing, it rubs a tiny bit on housing. Don’t know if it’s shaded pole or not but it did work with the variable speed passport II controller before the refit. Pan obviously is integral and it doesn’t leak. Free Just pay the shipping, otherwise it’s going in the trash 120 volt. Moves a lot of air for certain, was my salon unit.

Couple more picture of the antique, or is it vintage?

Anyone trying to save a 30-40 year old AC system probably has deeper issues :-). I would not sit on this too long but nice to offer it up.

I just pulled out my original split systems (1976) and went to 4 Velair Self contained units. Other than the cost I love them. So quiet and efficient. No long term history on them yet but hopefully they can last at least 10-15 years. If not it will be much easier to replace the self contained than with the splits. Full disclosure I did not tackle this project, I hired it out. It could be a DIY project but need versatile skill set and probably not get warranty coverage. They come with 2 years.

What units did you use, and what did you replace? Two 16kbtu units split to multiple evaporators?

I am planning to do the same, for the same reasons, but, haven't decided what new units to go with.

We just pulled a 230 volt 16k all in one and went back to splits. Don't think do you know more than the original engineers

If I have to replace one or both of the original split units in my 36C, what manufacturer do you recommend? My boat is 120VAC.

I have to say the cruisair units have titanium exchangers and run great. Installed correctly I've not seen issues. Installed by id10t technicians plenty of problems.
