Hope things work out. Breakup of a marriage is the second most stressful thing in life.

Thanks. it was tough, but the divorce was finalized in the spring. All better now.

Any idea if it would be a white metal box or a black plastic one?

And what SHOULD it say on the outside?

As Dave said...Just follow the wire from the keypad/display to where it plugs in...That's your box with the board in it...

The SMXht & Q-Logic Keypad/Displays look identical...But one should have SMXht on the face & the other has Q-Logic...You still need to follow the wire to the board to replace it.

Curious...Why would they scratch off model & serial numbers ?

Steve~

Just checked, it's only the serial numbers that are gone. And your question is a damn good one that I have no answer for.

So, I THINK I found the right box. Pretty hard to trace wires on the 53. Black plastic box. The board seems to have a fairly large capacitor on it. Inside the box was a diagram and it is labeled STQ6-16 (C/CK) STOWAWAY TURBO W/Q CONTROL HIGH LEL 115-230VAC/50-60HZ

So, assuming this is the board, is that the Q Logic?

Yes it says it is...Board is inside that box.

But I see a problem that would explain why the board went bad...If I'm reading (and you typed) your model correctly...

"CK" in that model number indicates that unit was built for 50Hz European power ONLY...But it could be that the diagram you are seeing is for both applications/units...

Can you get me the actual unit Product & Model numbers ???...Should be on the outside of that black box...

If it is in fact a 50Hz unit...You will have nothing but troubles running that unit on 60Hz US power & no economical way to convert it over to 60 Hz...
Next will be fan motor & compressor failures...Bite the bullet now...Remove it & install a unit made for US power...

I'm guessing your installer or you got a deal on that unit...Maybe E-Bay ?
Better check the other model numbers if they installed more than one unit...

Something here smells really funny...

Sorry, typo, it says STQ6-16 (C/CK) STOWAWAY TURBO W/Q CONTROL HIGH LEL 115-230VAC/50-60HZ if it makes any difference. I'll check everything again when I get home. But i sure hope it's not a Euro system. The compressors were not replaced, jsut the air handlers with aux heat and controls. The dealer sure as hell shouldn't have gotten anything off eBay, they are the authorized CruiseAir dealer for the area. Damn well should have been NEW directly from CruiseAir...that's what i paid for. Ugh!

"STQ6-16 (C/CK) STOWAWAY TURBO W/Q CONTROL HIGH LEL 115-230VAC/50-60HZ"

I'm not sure where you are reading this info but it is a wiring diagram for all "Self Contained" units 6K to 16,0000 btu, and ready for the Q-Logic control...The wiring is the same on 50 or 60 Hz units...

The key thing here is you say compressors were not replaced...Why do they have a Stowaway unit Diagram (Stowaway units have compressor & air handler all in one unit) inside a box that is in operation, and aboard a boat that did/does not have self contained units ?

I'm still confused...Your 53 MY originally had 4 condensing units in the engine room & Likely 5 air handlers in the cabins...If they only replaced air handlers...Why is there self contained unit info aboard ?

Anyway...The Q-Logic board is part# 701800004 and is $215.00 with no returns on electronic parts.

Once installed it will have to be told (thru programming) that the system has aux heat, and if you want aux heat to work in conjunction with reverse cycle, or by itself...

You think your confused, me too. She definitely has 4 compressors, and 6 air handlers. I found all 4 control boxes, they have the information for stow away systems printed on them. I'm guessing that the dealer that did the install just used the BOXES but with the correct board? But who knows what they did. The more I look into it, the more I am considering filing suit. HORRIBLE work. The more I find out, the less happy I am. Thanks for the info. I'm going to simply let my guy do the work with new parts. He seems to know his shit and seems very trustworthy to me.

I guess it's possible that the dealer special ordered stuff to do the Q-Logic control retrofit kits for each air handler...And that is the only diagram the factory has for the Q-Logic control...So that's what they put inside the box...

The fact that you wanted Aux heat is lending itself to the Q-Logic control system...SMXII will do it but operation is a bit more confusing (No Aux heat light on the keypad/s)

The Cruisair parts book does not show a retrofit box for the Q-Logic control...Only for SMXII family which is a A-284 box...

My distributor does not stock Q-Logic stuff here in Central Fl, so the only experience I have with it is from school...We have no need for Aux heat down here because our seawater never gets below 55 degrees...Reverse cycle is good down to 40 degree water...

Still not sure why no Serial #'s and there should be at least a product # (not on that diagram, but on the outside of the cover for the box) I could look up a product number with my dealer access to the Dometic computer info...

They no longer show R-22 air handlers with Aux heat in the price book either...But they should have model, product, & serial numbers on the top side of each coil...Those were in production and are likely EBU or EBUH models "H" being for heat strip...Maybe even EBO or EBO----

They do show R-22/R417a air handlers with heat strip for the Modulating system since it is not offered in reverse cycle...Those models would start with EMHE or EHMB...But they would have solenoid valves to shut off refrigerant flow to each when the cabin gets to temp...This would not be good with a non-modulating condensing unit in the engine room unless the valves were wired to be open all the time...And they would cost more money than a standard air handler with aux heat...

You could also have separate Aux heat boxes that the discharge duct connects to, then continues out to the grill with strips inside that/those box/s...They will also have their own model, product & serial numbers...

You are doing the right thing to get the local guy out...He can be sure things are Kosher if he knows his stuff...He can also call the factory once he sees the system if he has any questions...At least he will know the right info to give them to get the right answers...

Still an interesting situation...Let us know what happens...I for one would like to know what you actually have, and without seeing it I'm just guessing...
