Hatteras Model
53' CONVERTIBLE (1969 - 1980)
I am selling a Cruiseair 16k compressor, includes electrical box with intact capacitors. Also have squirrel cage fan, both in good working order. The evaporator coil went bad so I am changing the system out to a stand alone model. Not quite sure the value but after a little research I think the compressor for $350 and the fan for $50 or best offer

Fan sold, Best offer on compressor

Hi Chris. I might take the compressor. I've got to first check with my AC guy Monday Morning. What model is it? The compressor for my forward stateroom AC is on it's last legs, and your's might work. My unit is a 1979 FS16C model for use with the old Cruisair SMX controls. If it's a match, consider it sold.

Thanks
Paul

Chris,
If Paul doesnt take it I will.

Paul I'm not sure what year it is, i do know it is a 16k cruiseair and it works fine, the evaporator coil went bad that's why I am changing it out. It has a little bit of surface corrosion on it and I guess if your real picky you could put a new coat of blue paint on it. I'm up in michigan and the unit is heavy! Just FYI for shipping

Sorry Chris, let TROUBLE have it. My AC guy says I need a 230V unit, capable of running 2 separate air handlers from both the Forward VIP and Forward Guest Stateroom. He says I would need a matching 1988-1995 model FS16C series unit, for use with first generation SMX controls in order to repair it inexpensively. If I can't find one used or rebuilt somewhere, I'll have to go with a whole new unit with new controls and a new 2 station relay in order for the system to work.

I think I have a 24k 220 volt compressor and its smx ll if I remember right.

Thanks Boatsb. The only way I can escape this with minimal expense is to find a working 220v unit for use with SMX 1 controls only. Bummer. The rest of my system is fine. So far, the best price I'm quoted is ($6800 incl tax) for an "adaptable" new system with new controls retrofitted the original air handlers. $11,000 for the whole "Schlameel" ...just for the forward stateroom! I checked almost everywhere, and there seems to be no rebuilt or still working used replacement compressor units anywhere for SMX I ONLY controls. A new compressor alone won't fit the original SMX 1's!

That kills my summer "cruising budget". Anybody looking for a real nice 48 Ocean?

Ive taken 3 knob units and added smx ll controls many times. Ive wired FX units to old 3 knob controls. Your AC guy should be able to do it.
