I have a 1985 12,000 btu unit that is spewing raw cooling water. The unit is serviced by a raw water cooling pump that also services 2 other units. Any time a unit calls for cooling water this unit sprays raw water. I cannot see the unit well due to it's installation. I will need to have the freon evacuated before removing it, but I thought I would ask if anyone knows of a value or plug I should check before I have the unit removed. Are these know for developing raw cooling water leaks?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Happy New Year!

At the hoses. Check there first.

Also check the manifold @ the raw water pump outlet for pin hole leaks.

I have a 2ft hose from the sea strainer to the pump. Then another 2 ft hose to the unit. Then a short piece running to the through hull fitting where it discharges out the hull. The hose clamps are a likely source of the water spraying however, my friend had an elbow (manifold) wear through. It was a small pin hole, but sprayed like a firehose. You need to get an inspection mirror and a strong flash light and find that leak. If you cant get to the area, get a small person to help you. Get a kid if you have to. They can snake thier way everywhere and they have fun doing it. Good luck and keep me posted.

If its hose -its readily available at Lowes, Home Depot and is called " heater hose". An easy DIY project.

Use the black marine reinforced hose that looms like a different color version of the heavy white sanitation hose.

I replaced all the hoses and clamps last year, the water is definetely coming from the compressor unit. I by-passed the compressor and the other units and pump are fine. I am looking for advise on where to check on the compressor unit.

Thanks much!

Priced freon latley? I'd do everything I could before I drained the freon.
