I have a 14 year old Cruisair FX16c condensing unit that is shutting down intermittently with a high pressure fault. I have monitored the high side pressure with gauges and confirmed normal operating pressures during these events. My assumption is that the high side sensor needs to be replaced.

Can that sensor be swapped with the system charged (is there a check valve) or does the R22 have to be recovered before the swap out because it will open the high side line to the atmosphere?

Thanks,

George

yes you can swap with another high pressure switch from another unit. there is a shrader valve in the system behind the switch. once you loosen it, spin it off as fast as you can so you can release the valve. you will lose a little Freon going off and on that is why you have to be quick. good luck

2nd that. Plus have had the same problem.

Thanks for the response. I take it then that there is a small chance of the schrader getting stuck open for my older condenser and the quick swap is a pretty safe bet?

Thanks,

George
