  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' TRIPLE CABIN (1970 - 1976)
Well, I couldn't let Mario look like the only Hatt guy who had fun on a Hatt today.

Ryan and I went to the marina to have the head on "Nancy Cay" pumped. Not sure what the problem was, but everything checked out okay after a flush job and re-pump.

We left Caney Creek after topping off the tanks with $2.50 mid-grade unleaded and headed downstream to Blue Springs Marina for a cheeseburger at Ryan's request. It sure is fun just doing the guy thing with him. As always, he had to drive "Daddy's big boat". Given the distance from Caney Creek to Blue Springs, I figure the burgers we had cost about $75 or so, but the time we spent together was priceless as always.

Upon docking at the marina and entering the restaurant there, I noticed a couple who walked in and sat down at the table beside me and Ryan. They sure did look familiar, and it turns out they were. After exchanging glances, the guy looked at me and said "Randy?". Sure enough, turns out he was the guy I sold my little Allison 15' speed boat to a couple of months ago.

He and his wife spent a good deal of time with me in my office the day they came to pick up the boat. We traded stories and they told me that "Jim" would be blind within the next year. That little Allison had been a childhood dream of his, and I suppose he wanted to "see" that dream become reality. He and his wife are wonderful people, and Jim told me he would like to keep track of me. I told him that I too would like to keep up with him. Funny thing, he had called me last week-end and we just shot the bull for an hour or so on the phone.

I invited him and his wife to join us, which they did. We talked about lifes joys and sorrows, and then I invited them aboard my 41 for a little country cruise. I had to laugh when I found out they were the couple in a jon boat who had been surfing my wake on the way down the river!

We headed upstream to a subdivision near Thief Neck Island where some unscrupulous Southern boys took advantage of some geographically challenged lake lot lookers who bought lots sight unseen. Those things are straight up and down, and a couple have driveways which would rival the best snow ski longjump ramp known to man. One even has a brick catch wall for rainy days! Jim commented that he remembered when TVA offered to sell Thief Neck Island for $15k many years ago. That island is well over 1,000 acres and is absolutely beautiful with sloping hills and rock bluffs along with nice level spots and many coves for hooking it.

We had a nice cruise and Ryan entertained us, as always. He's quite the little entertainer. Upon returning them to the dock at Blue Springs, I told Jim he had to contact me as soon as he finished the restoration of that little Allison as it was his turn to take me for the next boat ride on the boat of his dreams.

Hey, I had fun on a Hatt today....Mario's Hatt! Well, I always have fun on my Hatt everyday, even if it is what others call "working on your boat." Seeing as my day started "working on the boat" at 7:15 a.m., I took the afternoon off and finally got to see Mario and Yaisy's Hatt. Sweet! Got some sun, went for a swim, launched my tender.....followed by repaired the outboard engine....and by that time, I had run out of daylight.

Freebird, nice to finally see a picture of the little man!

Today was a good Hatt day although I didn't get to leave the dock. Had hip surgery 3 weeks ago and got back to the boat for the first time today. I wish there was a way to bottle and sell some of that "Hatt Therapy". It's amazing how much better I felt just walking, no stumbling on the boat.

Hopefully the hip will allow me to leave the dock next time.

I hope you got a little payback for Mario not showing for your party!

Ang, you haven't been paying much attention as that is one of several pictures of Ryan which I have posted before. That one in particular was borrowed from my Pics of The Gorge thread posted last fall.

Thanks for noticing though! No, he did not get his mother's smile!

"Hatt Therapy" in a bottle?

Try one part Grey Goose, one part cranberry, and have an "expert" tell you how you put the wrong ingredient in first while drinking a couple staring at a picture of your Hatteras while sitting on your throbbing as... uh, stern!

Well we too had fun on our Hatt... Put on a full load of Diesel @$2.75 (235 gallons :O ) with a few friends from the Marina (one other liveaboard (Jersey 45 Sport Fisher; 83 years old, fought in WW II etc..)and 2 ggod friends who have a Marine Trader on blocks for another month or so until the weather gets better).

Was close to 50 today and after we finally had a full main tank we pulled out and ran down the hudson to Liberty Landing Marina, looked around.... and then ran back home. Nice way to use the Hatt for the last time for awhile as my right rotator cuff gets fixed (again) on Wednesday morning.

Next time we go it will be to Block Island I think.

Oh man, I need a "Hatter-vention"!
Noel, I am also a native NJ-er and love Block Island, nothing like being docked near Ballards and enjoying their great music in the summer! :)

Block Island! That brings back good memories from the 70s, when we lived in CT. We would stop at Block almost every trip. I still can taste the eclairs we would buy from Aldo the baker, who walked down the dock twice daily.

I am taking NE'r for some exercise today. I look forward to time aboard all week.
My wife can't come along. She is 34 wks pregnant. The last time she came was at 29 1/2 wks for a sunsey cruise. That ride put her on bed rest with pre-term labor. What I took away from this is that our new addition is a major boat lover already, and can't wait to get into the world and experience NE'r for his/her-self. Little life jackets, little fishing gear....I can't wait!
I enjoy my time alone w/ her(NE'r) anyway.

Hey buddy, we only recommend one type of infant PFD... am looking for the link now. it basically makes a crib and encases all the childs limbs.

A soon as I find the link I will definitely post it.

We went downtown to "The Landing" Friday night, stayed till Sunday. Saturday was the "Gate River Run" and had my brother come in from Long Beach Ca, my sister, bro in law, nephew drive up from Gainesville (Home of the champion Florida Gators) to do the run. Over 13,000 ran.

I watched ..

Temp was 78 on Saturday, 83 Sunday... Then back at the marina there was a dock party......

great week end on the water too... went over to No Name Habor across the bay saturday night, anchored out... great evening !

sunday, Mario and Yaisy were there too, had a BBQ with them and some friends... took the tender around for a swim near the lighthouse, saw Maynard's Unity returning in the channel (good looking boat at speed)... and finally a nice sunset ride back to the marina.

not a drop of rain, warm enough to swim, yet no need for AC at night.

I had fun too.....Lets see here, I Shella Shined the tower, changed the 20 gal of antifreeze, changed the oil in both generators, installed 2 new 12v batteries, scrubbed the engines, trans, sound shields, walls, battery boxes, and every other nook and cranny in the ER. That was just Saturday  !

Sunday I went to a seminar on yellowfin tuna fishing on the other side of the stream. 120 miles out is a long way to go fishing! I just need the mechanic to tune the engines up so we can go get a couple Volkswagons

For anyone planing to go over this year drop me a PM and I will give you the info we learned.
