Counter top upgrade

Everything on Esperanza is the way we want except the galley counter tops. From what I understand they go behind the cabinets and are tabbed into the hull. So only option is to skin them. I know Corian is available in 1/4 inch sheets but we cook a lot and really like how our granite tops in the house are indestructible if cut on or a hot pot goes on one. Anyone know if there is a quartz alternative?

I'll do it at some point, and for the reasons you stated I keep coming back to this. As I can determine my own colors it could be REALLY cool to match decor.....

We just re-did our kitchen and bathroom countertops. We bought large 1'x2' porcelain tiles from home depot. Had to buy a special glue and fiberglass paper to go over the formica countertops. With a tight grout it looks really nice. All in on the materials was about $150. Since we were at it we did the entire kitchen backsplash and wall behind stove in mirror polished stainless steel around $100 for 4x12 sheet.

Having torn down the old galley on my 53, I can’t tell you it s not an easy job as indeed it goes all the way tomthe hull side.

For my new galley up I used some 24x24” black granite tiles. There are a couple of seams finished with grout but no big deal. For the edge I did a mahogany fiddle so things can’t slide off.
