counter rotating engines?

An old Italian friend of mine that had a 46 used to say the ccw engine always wears out first because it runs against nature.

Only in the Northern Hemisphere.

On in line engines, the blower can go on either side regardless of crank rotation. You simply turn the block 180 degrees.

And what about the fly wheel / tranny flange?

The front and rear adaptors will bolt on either end. Here is a picture of a bare in-line block.
