37' CONVERTIBLE (1977 - 1982)
For the second time in as many years, I find myself having to replace my fresh water cooling pump. It's Relabilt from Detroit Diesel, when the pump arrived I opened the box and found there were no gaskets inside. This is for a 671n and is driven off the blower. Should I be using a gasket here, or can I/should I, use my trusty Aviation Form a Gasket.
Thanks
Scott

Don't know your situation first hand but its always smart to use proper gaskets unless you know of a specific problem in doing so....even gasket material and thickness can matter....short cuts are usually unwise unless proven by an expert...

On the other hand, if the old gaskets don't rip during disassembly you can apply a bit of hi temp silicone or the soft form a gasket and reuse the old gaskets as they are virtually new...

Thanks for the reply. I certainly don't want cut any corners, I guess I counldn't believe DD would send a $200.00+ pump without any gaskets. Either times are tougher than I relized, or there is some reason to run wothout them(not likely). I will finnd out more when I call them back after the long weekend, and get the old pump out in the meantime. Thanks Again, Scott.

I replaced mine last year and there was no gasket between the block and the pump, I used some silicone grease and everything was 100% ok..
