Cleaning gauge panels

Any suggestions on how to bring back the black panels in the dash that have all the switches?

I am in the process of doing this myself. I am going to use 3M Finesse and repaint (fill) the lettering. I actually bought laminate to recreate the panels on my mill, but after looking closer, I think they can be refinished. I will let you know how it goes.
