  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
60' MOTOR YACHT (1987 - 1989)
OEM was 1/4 G4. Seems REALLY light to me (even though I only use the boat in the SF Bay).

Upgrade to 5/16th G4? 3/4?

Thoughts?

My 58YF came to me with 1/4" G4 which was much too light. I recently removed the 200' in exchange for 3/8" G4 (300'). I would think 5/16" G4 would be perfect for your boat.

My 48MY had 1/4" chain when I bought it and I went to 3/8" G4 asap. Make sure your ancor is up to snuff too.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you look at all the anchor tests available, the "good" ones usually let go by around 5,000lbs line pull. For ecamply, 3/8" G4 is rated at 5400lbs working load limit with break strength several times that. The anchor would surely let go long before chain ever would.
