Cell phone cards for laptops

My contract is up on my less than great Cingular /ATT cell card. . I was paying about 80.00 /month on it for unlimited access. ATT is telling me that thier new technology is so much better and it will solve all my problems ,I of course am a bit skeptical as they want another 2 year contract at the same price. Anyone know who has the best one out there now?? .......Pat

i upgraded my old Edge card to a new G3 cigular/ATT air card back in december, it's day and night. The old (2 year old) Edge card was like dial up, the new G3 is true broadband (DSL/CAble like speed).

well worth it...

i think the only issue is that Cingular/ATT doesn't have as extensive broadband coverage as it's competitors, at least a few months ago so you may want to check who provides the best service in the areas you'll be in.

Spring or verizon might be a little cheaper, especially on new contracts.

I used my Cingular / ATT air card in the Bahamas last trip....Bimini, Nassau, almost all the way to Eluthera and San Sal.....It went to 2G mode and was a little slower and I got bumped quite a bit....but it worked. So BTC did upgrade a large portion of their NW.

I travel the SE US extensively, from Baltimore south. Pretty fast and reliable. The OEM is Sierra Wireless, their model Aricard 875. FWIW. Thx.

I have the cingular air card. I find it works well when you are close to the tower. If you do not have full signal the speed is very slow. My G3 braodband only works in metro areas where they have coverage, they are expanding but I think its slow comming.

I have the Verizon broad band card and love it $55. per month. Use it every where I go in the states. If you can use your phone you can use your laptop. Only thing is there is not broad band everywhere.
