45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
Is anyone familiar with the CAT 3176 engine ? It appears to be a straight 6 with output of approx 600hp .... any info
I think it was replaced with the 3196.
 
Not a good track record. Head and aftercooler problems. Read up on boatdiesel, tons of info.
 
Look at Boatdiesel, as noted. There are allegations of a serious aftercooler issue floating around, and apparently, there's now a class-action lawsuit that has been spun off.

I have absolutely no clue as to the merits of any of it, as I don't keep up on CAT products - do your dilligence.....
