  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' LRC (1975 - 1981)
Can anyone identify these stainless "trim" rings above the cleats on weatherboards?

I've seen these (I believe to be stainless) trim rings above the cleats on a few LRC's. I like the way they look and would like to add something similar to my 58.

Can anyone identify the supplier or have any ideas on how to make them?

A friend of mine On the Chartmaker 53’ who has the same SS trim on theirs. I’m envious of that classy look. I’m sure they were an add on cost when new. I’ll be watching this post with interest. I’d like a complete set myself if anyone knows where to get them.

I've not seen stainless trim rings, but have seen vinyl trim rings for those locations. I don't have any on mine and would be interested in either if anyone knows a source.

The vinyl trim I've seen "looks like" standard automotive trim IMO.

I'll be following this with interest as well.....

We have them as well. Not sure when they were installed but I think they look fantastic. They really dress the old girl up.

I'm jealous. They are definitely "bling" for the girls. Need to find them.

Call SAM's marine, they should be able to tell you and probably have them in stock or tell you where to purchase.

I doubt it. Those aren't original.

I don't think they were factory options. Would like to see one of these up close, but so far all I have is a pictures of a few boats that have them.

I'm thinking they are stainless - perhaps u-channel that is bent to fit. Not sure how I could bend them, but will check locally.

Are those retention screws above the trim rings in the first photo? The second photo seems to show screws within the trim but it might not be stainless. Open the images in a new tab and zoom in. It could be they are not u channel.

Dan, hard to tell. I have e-mailed the listing broker for "Carry-on" a 65LRC (probably the most beautiful example of a LRC I've ever seen) and asked him for some high resolution photos. Hopefully that will shed some light on things.

Re: Can anyone identify these stainless "trim" rings above the cleats on weatherboard

I received some detailed photos today from Mike Porter the listing broker on Carry-on. He was great help and replied back quickly.

These were custom made by the owners out of stainless tubing. Attached are some photos. This may be a bit more expensive to produce than I had originally hoped, but I still love the look.

I have the hi-resolution photos which really show more detail, but can't seem to upload the better quality images to the forum

Mine are flat stainless on the outside of the dodger only.

That tubing approach certainly is robust.
