  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
These are pics of the prettiest er I've ever seen from a gentleman's 53edmy on lake Barkley, KY. He was, rightfully, quite proud of his handiwork. Love the shiny copper! Sheesh, if only ...

What's the vertical white cylinder with the blue 1.5" flex hose looping around in the first and last photo??

And in the second photo, I see two air connections, one from each turbo, the blue silicon hoses coming from aft, to the blower....when did Detroit change to that arrangement?? Have not seen that double feed before.

It is pretty! Can't imagine the work it takes to keep the copper that clean while, at the same time, not discoloring the white paint as you use the brasso/never dull/whatever on the copper. Though maybe he coated the copper with clear lacquer after polishing.

I have also not seen that turbo connection before - it looks extremely restrictive airflow-wise compared to the "normal" setup. From what I can see it looks like an 8V71TI but could it be something smaller?

Looks like 6v92ta's to me , and someone has entirely too much time on thier hands.........................................Pat

Mike, the engine looks to me like it may be a 6V92.

Too much time and too much money. Two nice problems to have!

Maybe he's cheating. He may have laquered the copper pipes.
Still, ...........................................

Nice!

My speculation is the vertical white cylinder is a drain chest to consolidate both black water and gray water waste. The boat is a lake so they may not allow gray water discharge into the lake, so all waste water goes into the holding tank.

As for the copper and other shining objects, I suspect use in fresh water is helping here also. Not sure that any amount of maintenance would give you this result in a salt air environment.

The white pvc cylinder is the sea chest. Hatteras changed from glassing them into the hullside to that pvc setup in the mid 80's.

Someone isn't using their boat enuff....

or taking their meds as Rx'd.................................Pat
