I was assuming there would be a nice stainless rail coming down the side and wrapping around the back of that deck.

Is there a safety factor of going with #2 and not having 'walls' on the corners of the bridge? A little slip could put you overboard pretty quickly there.

does having walls to the end restrict viewing of the aft corners from the wheel?

Option 2 is the best aesthetically and period wise.

I prefer option 2 because it makes it easier to pee overboard when you are on wheel watch at night. No need to keep a pee bucket in the bridge.
