I started by drilling 2 4inch holes in the underside of the deck but then realized that a lot of the core was bad so I had to take off a big section of the top, dug out all the wet core, replaced with form coreing glassed over the top and applied new paint and non skid. It is a big job
The thickness of the glass on top and bottom are very strong. However you should drill numerous holes for excess expansion. If you inject to much it has an exit location.
i drilled 2 inch holes to clean out and re foam from, no deformation of the glass. all of the excess foam came up through the filll hole. i let it set then cut the excess off with a hacksaw blade, used a router to cut the foam down to the original height and glassed the hole in
