  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Departed Carrabelle 12/10 at noon with six other boat all trawlers. My destination was Tampa St. Pete but all the other boats due to speed were headed for Tarpon Springs. As the night wore on the wind and waves increased with 2-4ft waves, I powered up and let the stabalizers do their job and it was an uneventful trip, however inexplicably the flotilla of trawlers slowed to 5-6 mph which makes for a rolly trip. Tell me again why I would want a trawler???

Looking for a great place to stay over Christmas in Port St. Lucie, any suggestions??

Ron

Hi Bill, yes I'm sorry we missed you also. Heading for Ft. Myers tommorrow and then across Lake O have given up on the idea of Georgetown by Xmas having too much fun with the new people we've met.

Ron, Tarpon Bay Yacht Club (my home base) typically allows a stay of a few days. For a longer visit, check out Sunset Harbor 772-283-9225. They are at the junction or the St. Lucie River and the 'North Fork' just west of the Rosevelt Bridge. Getting space there will not be easy, so call now if interested. They have moorings as well.

Sandpiper can also handle a few transients. If you choose them, ask for John and tell him you are a friend of mine at TBYC and he'll give you a much better rate. Sandpiper is 1/2 mile south of me on the North Fork. 772-335-7875.

Ron, I forgot to mention that Sunset is almost in down town Stuart. Many resturants and shops in walking distance. The town has a free jitney and the marina has a shuttle to get you to Publix etc. Nice place if you can get in.

I'll check our availability as soon as I get your dimensions.

Hi bob, I left the other information on your PM., also on your original invitation post.

Really don't know how long we would stay, as I mentioned since Georgetown is out of the question for Xmas it really doesn't matter where we stay, may move down to Miami to stage for the crossing.

We've learned that schedules are made to be broken and we like to live for the moment which is why we spent so much time in the panhandle, met alot of nice folks so we just stayed, actually missed a couple of weather windows but its all about the experience.

Cheers,

Ron
