Paul, your out of PM space :D

Just fixed it......my bad ;)

Ya lost me Paul--
What do you mean from the ceiling to the floor? I would guess you reframed the windows, then a sill and then the walls?? My 1/4" stuff is pretty lousy on the back side as well...it would be just as easy (easier) to use the old stuff for templates. I have a place here called "PlyCraft" with tons of matching ends exotic paneling. You better get that new stuff sealed before it gets stained from the nic-o-tine !! Looks beautiful !! You still need to build out the air inlet boxes, no?? Or will you reuse the OEM ones? ws

Bill ,

As you know we completely gutted Boss lady to the fiberglass. The wat these boats are built is like this:

There is a 1/2 ply ( usually 1/2 ) attached to the salon sides by the window openings. This is done by using a product called adtech or cabosil . There are actually screws going from the outside of the salon through the wall into the ply, sucking it hard against the adtech and the fiberglass house.

The screw heads are countersunk and filled on the outside.

This 1/2 ply is installed from the ceiling to the gunnel. Right where you have that "sill " or trim piece of wood below the windows. From there down, there are cleats behind the wall that the 1/4 inch paneling is attached to , usually with brad nails and glue. The joints are puttied.

( owners would be amazed at how much wood putty is used in joints, but it " disapears" when sanded then the varnish or oil is applied )

So what we did was do away with the two sections and installed solid sheets of 3/4 ply teak from the ceiling to the salon floor.

Goung to build new engine air boxes to allow suficient air flow that apparantly even the new hatts seem to be lacking according to some info we had found. Our new openings will be approximately 14 X 68 " .

We came up with a design that will keep the water out and let the air flow in .When I get these done, I will post pics and explain our design.........until then it is a " trade secret".........LOL

I admire your tenacity !! I didnt know that the 'glass house was lined post mold with the interior ply.How the heck did you find the screws? Must've been from the inside! The side panels on the 58 are very much visibly individual panels with battens behind and trim covering the joints. Even still, most joints, edges, and corners are beat up, so replacement is the order of the day. It never ceases to amaze me at the low quality of the batten-paneling job that the factory did. Its REAL sloppy work. If the did it in Chicago, I would call the craftsmen SHILOCKS !! When I redo them, it will be with removal in mind to provide access to blowers and electric etc.
Right now, just the lower panels need R&R. I think from the sill up can be salvaged. FWIW-- I just bought a jar of SAVOGRAN oxalic acid, poured about an ounce in the crapper and it instantly removed all the rust that was otherwise impossible to remove. That was great! The mustache is next! ws

When we pulled the ply off the walls of the salon, I saw the screw tips comming from the outside inward.

You would be surprised at how many screws and other fasteners are out there, covered over. Which of course does not hurt a single thing and in many cases is the only way, and best way to secure and interior item.

I saw Paul's windows in person today and they are incredible! Paul thanks for the tour I just wish I had several more hours to spend. I'll bring a couple of bottles of wine next time and really pick your brain. What was the name of the wood place?

Paul, Chris,

She really is starting to look like something! I just hope to get up and see her while I can still see some "guts"!

Meanwhile the window frames are on my list when the aluminum frames are ready to go. They're gorgeous.

OK, now back to work before your head gets too big! LOL
