I wondered about that too given the depth of the swim platform and the fact they use prop pockets. The obvious answer would be the operator shifted into reverse, but who knows? What was the victim doing all the way under the boat, next to the running gear?
I thought this story involved an outboard or an inboard outboard. A 50' Sleaze Ray is an inboard boat, with running gear tucked way under the hull. The guy would have to be hanging out down there to get mixed up with the prop.
