Best $$ we have spent.

Please don't think I'm shilling for the guy we have, but it has been a great experience for my Pop and his first mate...he put the boat in the slip 5 times yesterday solo after just two days of instruction...and believe me when I say that is saying alot.

Not because of his handling skills...but he was terrified of being behind the wheel in close quarters. They are covering everything from pre-start checks, to anchoring, docking (slips/along side), using lines to get off a dock, etc...

I wanted to mention this because I really didn't know such a service was available...and might be something someone on the board may want to think about for a spouse or even older kid...

Feel free to PM me for any details.

I do on the water training on a full time basic in CT. It keeps me very busy in the spring and summer. I cover all the things mentioned and what ever the customer wants My lessons are usually 2 hr long and can take from one to well, many many lessons. I also make sure that " first mate " is on board and show he what they need to do. Then they have to switch it up.

Rick,

Sounds like your Dad learned a lot and has gained a lot of confidence. Confidence is half the battle. Practice to maintain skills is the other half. The other thing I have found is that once an owner starts taking "ownership" of the maintenance they seem to get better as a boat handler. I think there is a certain "zen" to boat handling and it starts in the engine room. Don't forget I'm available if you or your Dad want someone to ride along.

Erich,

I agree wholeheartedly with you...he and Bobby tried adding oil for the first time yesterday while on the cell phone with me talking them through it...I swear it sounded like a Three Stooges skit. Turns out they were adding it to the tranny by mistake :) but now they know how...

Won't be long and he'll be changing injectors :p

I'll definitely be calling you to keep the ball rolling.

Rick
