Damn cronieisim!lol yeah the WW11 hat works for my dad too!

LOL...:)

That hat got me a discount on a new car a few months ago in TX! :)

Actually, the hat didn't get me the discount directly, my military discharge paper (DD214) did. But the salesman saw the hat and said, "If you are a veteran you get a discount!" It would never have occurred to me to ask. Back in MY Army days it would have had the opposite effect.

Of course, anybody can buy a hat and pins to stick on it... ;)

A little off topic but relevant. I just received my vessel examiner certification from the USPS. During training they spoke of maybe the law passing on you if you have the sticker. I have talked to both GA and AL water po po on my lake and they say it is a definite pass. Coasties depends on the day.

I am not sure of FL but going to check with them next time I am at the boat.

If you are on the gulf coast I am in Panama City usually twice a month and want to be checked PM me. I will travel with notice.

My insurance co when I renewed asked if I had ours inspected and said it was good for a small discount.

I can do some inland stuff too when I am in town.

PM me:cool:

I was counting on you!!!!!!

My experience:

Do you have any firearms on board?
Yes.
What are they and where are they located?
One 9mm in the stateroom drawer.
Stay here. (while one went down and unloaded it, and hid the ammo in a different cabinet than the gun)

Once they finished the inspection, they told me where I could find it.

I have heard of that from other folks re USCG boardings. I have to admit I don't understand the point of that "procedure" but I had expected them to ask if there were firearms on board. I was surprised when they didn't mention it at all. Obviously the process is, in addition to being essentially random, also extremely variable. Nothing in the boarding report list of items to be inspected includes anything about firearms so I don't really understand the "unload the gun, hide the ammunition" thing.

They did the unload thing when I was boarded in Louisiana. Thing was that they did not tell me they unloaded it. I found the bullets after the trip was over.

I've had them put wire ties through the receivers. The bang stick confuses the hell out of them. I had one ding dong actually look down the business end of it.

Heck, I might do that...what's a Bang Stick?

Yeah, I know I can look it up myself and I will be doing that right now... :)

3 minutes later: Ah, I see. Why didn't the Jaws guys have a few of those? I guess the movie wouldn't have been very good if Quint had just banged the shark at the first opportunity.

When Jaws came out, the "Shark Dart" was the latest and greatest in shark defense. Essentially, it was a large CO2 canister attached to a large needle; jab shark in body cavity and viola, instant shark ballon. Like many new "great ideas", the reality didn't measure up to the hype, everyone went back to tried and true power heads in short order. Regardless of size of predator, tap em between the eyes with a power head and its lights out...
