Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Recently, when turning on the blowers for both engine rooms they would both run for about 15 seconds and then the breaker would pop. Thinking it might be a blower motor. I cut the wire on the port blower. I pulled the blowers on again and the starboard ran continuously. Figuring I had found the problem I wired in a rebuilt 32 V blower. I pulled the blowers on again and after 15 seconds the breaker popped again. I’m thinking it might be a week breaker, but I haven’t checked it yet. Any thoughts from the pros.

I have a similar problem. My port engine-room blower runs for a while then shuts down but doesn’t trip the breaker. It resumes operation on its own, assumably after a cool down. I replaced the blower motor but the new one does the same thing.

You won't know what is going on until you check voltage and current of each motor.

Check with an Amp meter. A simple clamp style meter isn't that expensive and will save alot of $ on parts and aggravation. JMO

On our 43DC the engine space blowers are getting pretty weak, and growly.... I have attempted to remove the port one which has the easier access........if you are a migget, contortionist circus performer ... I have given up three different timed due to claustrophobic panic attracts. I'll get them one of these times. The starboard one is impossible to ever get to I fear, as it is between the master cabin stairs and hull in a very tight spot.
