We broke in the boat this weekend(broke it too ).....3 for 5 on swordfish and lost a pig at the boat. Put my scrawny 12y/o on a good wahoo with an 80 wide 150 yards out on stand up gear . The kid was drooling like a bulldog and fought it like a champ but it pulled the hook 50 feet away. We ended up gimbaling the rod in the chair(pulled the foot brace). I knelt down and held the rod in the gimble while helping control the rod and keeping him focused. Awesome weekend! I will try to post pics soon.....

Man, that 80w rig is a handful for the little man, but he DOES look like he's "all boy" fighting that thing. Way to go taking him out and hooking him up like that!

Now wait a minute.......I've got pictures of me fighting a 10,000 lb Blue Marlin that show nothing but the pain on my face, a bent double rod, and a stern wake from a 10kt backdown!!!

Truth is, I was hung up on something other than a fish!!!

Me too and that just made it worst plus just winterized the boat this weekend . Oh well still am doing Striper fishing and then Hawaii in January

Hey, my son Ryan and I did the bachelor thing all day Sunday as Mamma was off to a jewelry show in Gatlinburg for a couple of days.

Went by West Marine and then Boaters World where he found his first rod and reel. It was "lellow" (yellow) his favorite color! He was flipping it around and making "woosh, woosh" noises with it every where we went for the rest of the day!

He's headed back to Mississississsippppi with my mother-in-law (a wonderful lady who I love dearly) to stay until Thanksgiving. She has a large lake that my father-in-law built on their property before he died. She loves to fish, and Ryan will now have his own equipment to provide additional entertainment.

I look forward to as much father and son time as my family situation may allow in the future. Damn, now I'm all bummed out again. Good thing I'm headed to FL Wednesday to do some fishing with GuzBoy!

Great pictures! I have never been on a overnight for swords. We were usually bushed from the days activities and then playing cards and drinkin' got in the way of swordfishing. LOL
