Bimini, Bahamas

Well the maiden voyage (beyond 6 miles off shore to fish) to Key Largo was such a success it is now time to cross the stream and go international to the Bahamas with a quick weekend trip to Bimini. We will be at the Bimini Sands Marina July 2 - 4 if anyone is in the neighborhood.Marcus & Michelle

I'm jealous, some day I'd love to make that trip. I'd would probably want to go with another boat my first time though. Enjoy.

Old Bahama Bay at West End would be a better stop IMHO. However if you have a good dink and the weather is good you can make it to the Sapona and snorkel etc..

Don't get stuck in the Marina like so many. Take a day trip or two.

First stop at the sapona for a snorkel, you can anchor very close to the wreck as it sits in 15' of water. There is a little current so use enough scope. TH only debris is off the stern everything else is clear Then go south another 4 miles to gun cay. On a holiday weekend the small anchorage to the north (honeymoon harbor) may be crowded so you may be better off anchoring on the east side of the cay. Nice beaches and stingrays patrolling up and down the beach. They love rub I hbon your legs

Another good half day trip is to go around the north end of north Bimini and anchor off the beach on the NE shore. It's all what s left of it after Bimini Bay Resort World destroyed the west shoreline. Once you go around the north point you won't see the concrete jungle anymore and will get a taste of what Bimini used to be
