  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1978 - 1983)
All, I am in the market for a RIB tender for our Hatt. Would like to get one with a steering console in the 10'-11' range. Curious as to what everyones experience is with their tenders. What do you like? What do you not like? Our davit crane is rated at 800lbs max lifting capacity.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 11' Highfield with a 25 Suzuki and a side steering console and bench seat with backrest. We really like it. Its light with that aluminum hull and it rides well and you don't get wet. The fuel tank fits in the bow locker and there is a separate locker in front of that for anchor and rode. We have it set up with a stereo, bilge pump, and a little Garmin plotter/sounder. The floor is a double floor so any water stays in the "bilge" and you can run the gas hose under there out of the way. Great little boat.

Thanks for all of the info on your tender. I will look into the Highfield 11'.

I don't have a Highfield, but that is the one I would get. I looked at them extensively, but I decided that my inflatable (not RIB) is "ok" for now. The nice thing about a rib over an inflatable is the ability to use a larger motor and go faster. Highfield also has an extensive range of RIBs.

We ve had a (bigger) Walker Bay generation on the boat i run and it s a very nice tender. Handles really well, nice features and layout. It gets a lot of use (and abuse)... and has held up very well

When i was really looking at tenders I was impressed with Walker Bays, then Grands seemed to be a better value for the money. Now i would only get a Highfield, the aluminum hull gets my vote. Im in the same position as Photolomy, my 310 zodiac yachtline is good enough for now until I get a larger boat that I can carry my Whaler 13 Sport on. Of course it needs to be restore close to its former glory also.

Thanks for all of the information and personal input. I will start researching!

That is the exact model I am looking at. I requested additional info from our local dealer but have not heard anything back. I cannot locate any pricing either. What motor did you put on it?

I ordered the 20 hp Tohatsu. I ordered it from Offshore Marine in lake bluff Ill.

I am a big fan of Novurania, my current tender is my second of this brand and they are very well built and ride really good. I have an AB 10' aluminium boat with a 25' evinrude that I bought for my 44' sailboat and it is a great little boat but total shit customer service from them.

jimmy b on this forum had one for sale, i will tell him to look at this thread

ZAR gets my top vote but it's expensive and heavy.

Bought a Walker Bay 12' in January. Came close to the 11' but liked the extra space of the 12. Very happy. Weights in at 750 lbs with a 40 Yammie.

I had a Zodiac 380 with a 25 Johnson. Be careful of console size. I am 5’8” and barely fit behind the wheel.

Did a lot of research about two years back… went with the 12’ Walker Bay (360 dlx) w/Yamaha. We have been very pleased. A couple recommendations, max out the HP (you can never have enough on a RIB) & go with Hypalon/Orca material (it last longer). Best of luck to you in your quest!!!

I have a Zodiac 340 with 40 2 stroke, plenty of pep. I have e it for 15 years. It is not hypalon, sadly, it is PVC so the tube only lasts about 10 or11 years. The good thing i change the tube m self in about an hour. The tube last purchase was $1,800, delivered.

I think my # 1 choice would be between a Cribe and an AB.

Hope this helps.

I love my Logic/Triumph 12' plastic roto-molded tender. Weighs nothing, is indestructible and is rated up to 25hp. I paid $1450 for mine as it sits here with a 15hp Johnson 2-stroke.

I believe they all come with center consoles now.

We have two Brigs, an Eagle 8 that we tow and an Eagle 380 that we put on the boat deck. The 380 is great. Carries 5 adults and a golden retriever safely and planes, barely when fully loaded, with a Honda 50.

Also look at the Frigid Rigid dinghy in Ft Myers it a quality product made by the company thats famous for their coolers looks like a rib and made out of fiberglass and will never lose air and go flat.
